調和会館

ニューヨークを拠点に活動するブランド「Chowa」の日本でのファーストプロジェクト、「Chowa Hall Tokyo」に
特注の手刺緞通を特注製作・施工する機会に恵まれました。

山形とも縁の深い建築家・佐藤秀三の元設計による、1970年代の木造邸宅の離れが改修されたスペースです。敷き込まれた濃紺の緞通は、季節、光、時間ごとにその表情が移ろっていきます。

We had the privilege of creating and installing a custom hand-tufted Dantsu for “Chowa Hall Tokyo,” the first Japan project of the New York–based brand Chowa.

The space is a renovated annex of a 1970s wooden residence originally designed by architect Hidezo Sato, who also has deep ties to our home city Yamagata.

The deep navy Dantsu, laid wall-to-wall throughout the space, gently shifts in expression with the changing seasons, light, and the passage of time.
