線表現の秘密: ファッションブランド「minä perhonen」、デザイナー・皆川明氏と共同開発した『happy ocean』。

皆川氏の手描き原画に宿るゆらいだ線、人の手ならではのニュアンスと印象をじゅうたんとして再現すべく「チップシャー」という織りと仕上げの技術を用いています。

手刺工程において、織り込む糸に毛糸の重しを乗せ、糸を打ち込んでいく工具（フックガン）に負荷を与えることで、線を構成するループ織りがじゅうたんの表面に深く潜る箇所、浅く潜る箇所を不規則に生み出します。

その後、全体を表面仕上げする過程で、浅いループは表面が削られて滑らかに、深いループは表面に潜ったまま、1本の線の中に微かな凹凸とゆらぎ、独特の肌触りが生まれます。

人の手で描かれたような、有機的な線表現に挑戦した一枚です。

The craftsmanship of line expression: collaborative rug of ‘happy ocean’ with fashion brand minä perhonen and designer Akira Minagawa.

In an effort to recreate the delicate, wavering lines and the nuances unique to hand-drawn art as seen in Akira Minagawa’s original sketches, we used a technique called “chip shear” to bring this design to life as a rug.

During the process, yarn weights are placed on the threads, and additional pressure is applied to the tufting tool (a hook gun).

This variation in pressure causes the looped yarn that forms the lines to sink deeper into the surface of the rug in some areas and remain more shallow in others, creating an irregular depth.

In the final surface finishing, the shallow loops are shaved smooth, while the deeper loops remain embedded, resulting in subtle undulations and fluctuations within a single line.

This gives the rug its distinctive texture and an organic line expression, reminiscent of a hand-drawn illustration.
