Shiseido Hall, 1962

Case Study: Shiseido Hall, Designed by Yoshirō Taniguchi and Shimizu Corporation, 1962
For the Shiseido Hall, designed by architect Yoshirō Taniguchi in collaboration with Shimizu Corporation and completed in 1962, we produced and delivered a custom-colored wall-to-wall carpet as well as a hand-knotted Dantsu rug for the VIP room.
In designing this project, Taniguchi deeply respected Shiseido’s identity as a long-established company, carefully selecting only Japanese-sourced materials, including stone, wood, and fabric. His approach emphasized the meticulous selection of architectural materials as a core principle of architectural aesthetics.
In the VIP room on the 9th floor, a hand-knotted Dantsu rug was placed atop the wall-to-wall carpet, creating an elegant composition where the fine reception furniture appears to float above the surface.
